Travelogue: Iguazu Falls

IguazuNo matter how you say or spell it the falls (Iguazú Falls, Iguassu Falls, Iguaçu Falls, or Yguazú Falls) are one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sights. They lie split between Brazil and Argentina in a large expanse of national park and surrounding subtropical rainforest that is a haven to wildlife creatures such as tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caymans as well as over 2,000 species of plants. I was not prepared for how amazing the falls were a magnificent spectacle of 275 falls surrounded by rainforest, clouds of mist, rainbows and butterflies at every turn. It truly is a magical place and this natural wonder should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Travelogue: Rio de Janeiro

rioI finally got around to blogging my travels to South America. It was an unforgettable 11-day adventure with three of my closest friends that involved eight flights, numerous shuttle buses, cable cars, car rides and boat rides. Because of our limited time we really tried to pack as much into our schedules as possible. We planned a mix of sightseeing and relaxation.

Travelogue: Banff

Banff_109

I had a Valentines date with adventure and spent a long weekend in Banff in mid-February. It was a beautiful place and for anyone who wants details on my trip or tips for planning your own trip here are details…

I flew into Calgary and rented a car. It’s about a 90 minute drive from the airport to the town of Banff. I stayed at Banff Ptarmigan Inn. It’s a budget-friendly hotel centrally located right in the middle of the town of Banff. It’s only a few minutes walk to the shops and dining. I ate at Magpie & Stump (Mexican), Balkan (Greek), The Maple Leaf Grille (Canadian Cuisine), Giorgio’s Trattoria (Italian). I would recommend them all. I skied at Lake Louise and Sunshine Village, but Lake Louise was my favorite with it’s beautiful pine tree filled slopes.

Here’s my visual synopsis…
